Join us this summer as the VU – Koor, together with the VU – Kamerorkest, will perform Karl Jenkins’ “The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace” at the beautiful Dominicuskerk in Amsterdam!
The VU-Koor is an international university choir led by our enthusiastic conductor, Dody Soetanto. With over 80 members from more than 25 different countries, the choir brings together a rich diversity of voices and cultures. This concert is a special collaboration with the VU-Kamerorkest, conducted by Jasper de Waal, promising a powerful and moving performance.
Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man is a deeply moving and contemporary mass for peace, originally commissioned for the millennium celebrations. Blending elements of the traditional Latin mass with poetry, historical texts, and diverse musical influences, the piece is both a reflection on the horrors of war and a hopeful call for peace. From the striking L’Homme Armé theme to the soaring Benedictus, this work is an emotional journey that speaks to audiences of all backgrounds.
Concert starts at 15.30, and doors open at 15.00.
